 |  I met Brooke and Pepe (the Snowmango team) during their visit to Guatemala in 2010. They were interested in ARCAS's wildlife conservation work and visited out Wildlife Rescue Center in Peten and our sea turtle project in Hawaii, on the Pacific coast. They offered, on a volunteer basis, to help us rework out website, something that we urgently needed! We worked with them during the fall of 2010 and spring of 2011, updating the ARCAS website, incorporating all the new social media options and making it more friendly to the new technologies and applications available, including the IPOD and smart phones. You can see the fruits of all this work at www.arcasguatemala.com. We here at ARCAS are a small, overstretched NGO, so we don't have the resources to hire a full-time media person. Brooke and Pepe were very patient in walking us through the design and edition process, and explaining to us the various options we have. We were so impressed by their work that we have taken them on to manage our website on a full-time basis. We receive approximately 50% of our income from volunteers and ecotourism, the majority of them recruited via our website. So it is very important for us to maintain an up-to-date, attractive and agile website, and to reach out to potential volunteers, donors, students and fellow conservationists via social media like Twitter, Facebook and You Tube.
